19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
